Frequently Asked Questions

Are There Prerequisites For Any Programs?

Some programs do have prerequisites. Program prerequisites, if any, are provided in the program description. If you are unsure as to whether or not you meet the stated prerequisite, speak to the program Support Team.

How Long Does It Take To Complete a Certification?

Because the programs are self-paced, the completion time will depend upon a variety of factors, including the student's schedule, familiarity with the content and the particular program chosen. Training Specialists will generally schedule course work over 12 weeks but can make accomodations based on your issues or needs.

What is a Prior Learning Assessment?

A Prior Learning Assessment, or PLA, is a test that is taken to prove your competency in a skill area or to determine if a student meets program prerequisites. Students who attempt a PLA and earn a score of at least 70% are not required to complete training or testing in the applicable module.

Are Program Changes Allowed?

Yes. Program changes or transfers may be made at no cost.

Please note: Only one change per student is permitted in consultation with your Training Specialist.

Can I Take More Than One Program?

Because many programs build on skills attained in other programs, taking more than one program is encouraged. However, we do not recommend taking multiple programs at the same time.

Where Do I Take My Courses?

Course work is all available online. Some courses may include the support of an online instructor; however, the majority is independent study. In some cases, paper-based correspondence courses are also available.

Are There Exams?

An online test must be completed at the end of each module of study. There is no final exam.

Do I Need an Internet Connection?

An Internet connection is required for all testing but may not be required for all training. Students without personal Internet access can make use of public Internet facilities such as those available at the public libraries.

What Study Materials Are Needed?

The required study materials vary from program to program and will be provided to you by your Training Specialist.

Some programs offer supplementary readings and/or resource materials. However, these are not mandatory, and the use of these materials is at the discretion of the student. It will be the student's responsibility to source supplementary materials at their own expense.

Do I Require Any Special Tools or Software?

Some programs will require the use of a calculator or access to a particular software program (i.e. MS Word, etc.). Specific requirements are stated in the program overview. The provision of these items is the responsibility of the student.

How Do I Receive My Certificate?

Your certificate and detailed transcript will be mailed to you at the address we have on file for you. Be sure to notify the Support Team of any address changes.
